Course Overview

This intermediate-level course is designed for pre-sales engineers and solution architects to master the design and planning of optical transmission and access networks. It covers advanced WDM/OTN features, MS-OTN protection, PON security, and end-to-end POL (Passive Optical LAN) campus solution design.

Course Outcomes

  • Describe the typical networking and site signal flow of the optical transmission network
  • Describe common protection technologies and MS-OTN features
  • Analyze advanced features like fgOTN, OXC, and Ultra-Long-Haul transmission
  • Master the planning and design process using professional optical network tools
  • Explain PON networking protection and OLT upstream protection technologies
  • Understand protocols for voice and multicast services on optical access networks
  • Design and plan POL campus scenarios including ODN and data planning
  • Deploy E2E PON QoS and implement network security attack defense
